Viet Duc Company accompanies BASF Vietnam to build a playground for visually impaired children in Ho Chi Minh City
BASF Vietnam, along with co-sponsoring partners and social enterprise Think Playgrounds (TPG), has just inaugurated its 8th playground in Vietnam.
In August 2024, Viet Duc Joint Stock Company is honored to continue partnering with BASF Vietnam in the project to build a playground for 200 visually impaired children at Nguyen Dinh Chieu Special Education School. This project aims to support the physical and mental development of the children through inclusive outdoor play activities. The playground is designed using environmentally friendly materials.
This is the 8th outdoor playground for children in Vietnam that BASF Vietnam has partnered with TPG to build since 2019, marking 30 years of BASF’s operations in Vietnam and 10 years of TPG’s establishment.
The playground is specially designed with structures suitable for various activities, providing a safe and friendly outdoor space for children to play, learn, and easily interact with one another. Environmentally friendly materials, such as eucalyptus wood from trusted suppliers, are used. The playground equipment is installed and decorated by BASF volunteers and partners.
Mr. Erick Contreras, General Director of BASF Vietnam, shared during the event:
"An inclusive and sustainable playground is essential for the development of children, especially those who require special support. We are committed to providing safe, vibrant outdoor play areas where children can learn, interact, and develop essential skills, while also conveying the important message of sustainable development through the use of sustainable materials.
On the occasion of our 30th anniversary in Vietnam, we aim to take our playground building program to a new level. We are engaging long-term business partners who share our vision of contributing to Vietnam's economic development and creating long-lasting value for the community, to join us in this meaningful project."

BASF Vietnam also implements other long-term community projects with a focus on education development. The BASF Kids' Lab program, in collaboration with the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, organizes fun experiments to help children learn about chemistry and natural sciences, benefiting around 5,000 primary school students since 2011. The BASF Virtual Lab program provides an online version with 14 interactive experiment games dubbed in Vietnamese.
Additionally, the company collaborates with other partners in the School Building Program coordinated by the Saigon Children's Charity. To date, the program has renovated and built 7 schools in remote areas, helping approximately 750 students each year to access better learning conditions.
