Chevron Expands Automated Oil Supply at Elizabeth, South Africa

London, UK, November 5, 2024 — Chevron Marine Lubricants has officially expanded its global supply network in Africa to include Port Elizabeth in South Africa. The expansion will enable Chevron to better serve vessels that must navigate the longer route to avoid current conflict zones, while strengthening the company’s strategic presence in the southern region.

This development is made possible through close collaboration with local partners, showcasing the strength of partnerships in enhancing service quality and ensuring supply chain reliability. Chevron’s provision of products at the Port of Elizabeth will further strengthen the reliability of the company’s marine lubricants supply chain.

Chevron's marine lubricant product line, including the renowned Taro Ultra range, will be made available to vessels calling at the Port of Elizabeth, a versatile port located on the western edge of Algoa Bay. The port operates 363 days a year and is equipped to handle bulk, container, and liquid cargo.

The significance of the Port of Elizabeth is underscored by pre-2023 statistics, which show an average of approximately 1,050 vessel calls over 36 months. Since October 2023, the number of car carriers passing through the port has increased significantly, with many operators now redirecting vessels via the Cape of Good Hope.
